BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The OrangeCat Racing team partnered with electric sportbike builder Lightfighter Racing to score three victories and set an electric motorcycle lap record over the weekend at the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association round at Barber Motorsports Park.
With MotoAmerica Stock 1000 runner-up and international motorcycle road racing journeyman Jayson Uribe at the helm of the Lightfighter team’s new V3 model entered in the event, the Lightfighter team recorded one win on Saturday and two wins on Sunday at the Oct. 10-13 round, as well as demonstrated the V3’s excellent power and handling when he reset the Barber electric motorcycle lap record on Saturday.
Uribe had excellent pace at the start of the weekend. He was the fastest rider in his practice group in Thursday’s first round of practice sessions by 0.698 seconds. During the fourth and final round of practice sessions on Thursday, Uribe was again fastest in rider in Group 5. He finished that session more than four seconds faster than the next fastest rider. Unfortunately for the other Lightfighter rider, Troy Siahaan, his motorcycle suffered an equipment failure in his first practice session on Thursday, and he was unable to compete with the Lightfighter team for the remainder of the weekend.
Uribe ended up qualifying eighth for AHRMA Pro Class out of 23 riders, despite the team having limited time to get his new V3 set up.
In both Formula Lightning Extreme Class races on the weekend, Uribe piloted his Lightfighter to victory. He also was leading the Saturday Formula Thunder race before a mechanical issue did not allow him to finish the race. Uribe’s pace during that race gave the team some consolation, as the 1:29.063 lap time during the Saturday Formula Thunder race reset the electric motorcycle lap record around Barber Motorsports Park. This marked an improvement from his pace in qualifying on Friday. On Sunday, Uribe was back to his frontrunning form when he notched this third win of the weekend in the Formula Thunder contest.
Though he had qualified for the Pro Class race, the team elected to not take part in the race due to the V3’s maximum race distance capability and the racing organization's decision to extend the race by two laps compared to the 2023 event.

"Overall, we had our fair share of ups and downs at the AHRMA finale, but everyone pushed through as a team and accomplished some incredible things! The LightFighter and Orange Cat collaboration couldn't have gone any better. The extensive knowledge of both crews in their respective areas led to rapid development of the new V3 race bike. We ran into some weird mechanical issues, but everyone worked together to find solutions. We were able to snag a new lap record and three race wins! Huge shoutout to both teams for their continued support, and to Pirelli for helping us get the stickiest tires out there."
